EVANS PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT
The Evans Public Library is a member of Illinois Heartland Library System. Located at 825 W. Randolph Street, in Vandalia, IL the library provides free services to all residents living within the Evans Public Library District boundaries with services available to all others for a fee. Vandalia is home to the oldest existing capitol building in Illinois.
Illinois Heartland Library System covers 28,141 square miles. There are 594 member libraries: 38 academic libraries, 231 public libraries, 260 school libraries and 65 special libraries. Illinois Heartland Library System was created by the merger of four regional library systems in southern and central Illinois: Lewis & Clark Library System in Edwardsville, Lincoln Trail Libraries System in Champaign, Rolling Prairie Library System in Decatur, and Shawnee Library System in Carterville.

Our Mission
The mission of Evans Public Library District is to provide educational, informational, cultural, and recreational resources and services to all ages of people in Evans Public Library District. The library will provide access to the universe of information, and especially that information which is of the immediate relevance and interest to the community it serves. The library seeks to accomplish its mission through prudent management and development of its resources, and by providing access to materials and services to meet the present and future needs of the community it serves. In this effort the Evans Public Library District cooperates with other libraries, and with other educational, and governmental institutions. Special emphasis is placed on current popular materials. The library serves as a learning center and educational center for all the residents of the community.
